You are the world's greatest natural resource. No matter how dumb, ugly, fat, or useless you think you are, the corporations and despots need you like fish need water. You make the big wheel keep turning. Your belief in this system, or inability to imagine another way of living, enable things to remain just as they are.
More than gold, platinum or oil, you—your mind and energy—are the world's greatest resource. The people who control +95% of the world's natural resources will not be able to do what they do without you and the value you assign to the things or ideas you buy into.
All of the distractions at our disposal are robbing us of investing in ourselves, that is if we allow them to: television (HD & cable), video games, text messaging, internet (Myspace, YouTube, porn, e-mail), shopping, partying. Any time we give to someone else's dreams is taking us away from realizing our own. Hopefully, as you read this you become empowered and inspired; your reading this will take you closer to realizing your goals or dreams. Anything you invest your time and energy in should serve you, and those things that suck time out of you and leave you with nothing should be set aside and rejected like a kiss from someone with onions and garlic breath.
A group called the Watts Prophets recorded a poem in which the refrain was "keepin you doin thangs." That is exactly what happens on a daily basis; we are repeatedly sucked into artificial situations that seem urgent and that seem important, but when someone dies or a natural disaster unplugs us we realize how choreographed our lives are—and not by our own design.
My personal experience with this knowledge is an ongoing struggle. I can always find a distraction, but it is not so easy finding time to do the things that take me closer to realizing my goals. Writing this, sharing this with you is taking me closer to manifesting my purpose.
What is it that you have wanted to do and have been compelled toward, but never allowed yourself the time to do? We are our only obstacles. We choose to invest our thoughts and energy into people, ideas, organizations, events and self-destructive actions that take us away from our purpose. What will you choose to do when you finish reading this? What steps are you taking to become the person you want to be?

I am the world’s greatest resource? This statement really stirred me because I never looked at myself as the world’s greatest anything let alone resource.
I am my own worst distraction. So many times people tell me how great I am doing how much I am accomplishing, and yet I always see what I am NOT doing. I always see the glass as half empty, always hoping for the worst so that if it happens I am prepared. When it comes to others, I am always so positive and hopeful for there future but my own, well I am not so optimistic. Fear of failure sometimes prevents me from trying. I have so many goals and aspirations that I keep hidden in my journal. I feel if I don’t succeed at everything I do, people will look at me like the biggest loser. Yesterday in class we watched the secret which I have previously read. Changing your thinking is more powerful then I could have imagined. Today I realized nothing worth working hard for will ever be painless. That pain might very well include embarrassment but the feeling of overcoming obstacles and succeeding is greater to me than any humiliation. After reading this article and putting my own thoughts down I can appreciate and better understand the statement, I AM THE WORLDS GREATEST RESOURCE!
I am the world's greatest resource. I give and try to do right. I strive for the best and look for the greater good in people. Even when my work seems to be dome in vain. I try hard to please others often times forgetting myself in the process. because I wear a smile on my face often my heart is crying, Because it knows its unappreciated. Ihave big dreams and goals, at least they are big to me. I have great big plans on changing me first, better myself, do right for me. I will not be my biggest distraction, But, my biggest, loudest personal cheerleader. After reading this I know to better myself I must and will continue to go to school, study, read and pray!!!
A Generation of Dreamers
We are a generation of dreamers, very different from our fathers' who just wanted to make a life. We want to taste plenitude in the developed of our capacities the same that we have seen others. We know we have talent but, why do we struggle reaching our most beloved goal meanwhile just a few seem to reach the high point graciously and naturally.
It has been said, that everything that we accomplished in our lives depends on the energy we designate to this purpose. For that reason, it is important to know how
to obtain and manage our energy. Maybe people like Frank Zappa, John Coltrane and Carlos Fuentes were gifted with an increased level of energy or an ability to process their potential, so they set a precedence for the rest of us, about what is possible for mankind to accomplish.
We can see what activities are really important for our chosen purpose of our life and which are not; what things I'm able to do well and what my limits are for now. For myself, putting my energy in my college courses means a positive actions that implies to clear my mind and move forward. Also, I feel enjoyment every time I learn something new and I want to continue with the pleasure while I'm alive.
Food for thought. I think this post is very interesting. I am actually reading a book right now by Hill Harper, Letters to a Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny, and this is pretty much what he’s writing about. I know I am at an age where I’m still figuring out who I am and what I’m going to do with my life. And influences, such as the media or peers, can be very distracting. I think we spend so much of our time trying to please other people and make good impressions that we forget about the most important person: oneself. If we would give to ourselves as we do for others and learn to embrace our own ideas of happiness, then there would be less hostility and hatred amongst each other. I plan to first take care of me and stop worrying so much what others think. I want to do things that make me feel that my life will make a difference in this world.

I became determine to accomplish the things that my parents never had the chance to do a long time ago. It has not been easy because I have had negative experiences trying to accomplish my goals. Even my own so called “family members” have tried to put me down. There was a time that I lived in fear, fear of failure but mostly fear of letting my parents down. Now I am more then willing to try my hardest and if I don’t succeed I am able to get back up and continue with my life.
My purpose is to help “mi gente” and that is what makes my heart scream with joy. I want to have my own non-profit that will serve those in need. But in order reach my purpose I want to finish college and help discover the real person that I am. I do believe that I AM the world’s greatest resource!

I often sit back and think how we are the source for the riches of others. What would happen if everyone just stopped buying? We control so much yet we get so little. its unbelievable how rich could care less about us and continue to profit off of our ignorance and continue to make lif eharder for us. I think its time that we as a nation take a stand for ourselves and say "NO" we wont take it anymore. We can do for ourselves. WE could beat thema t their own game by becoming more self reliant. we could plant our own food. we make everything run and all we want is for things to be a little easier.
